Sandakan Death Marches

At the time of the Japanese surrender on 15 August 1945 only six prisoners had survived the horrors of the Sandakan prisoner of war camp and the Sandakan Death Marches. The Australian and British POWs on the second march to Ranau left Sandakan camp on 29 May 1945.
